The University of Michigan Industrial Affiliates program focuses on some of the most challenging problems facing the upstream oil industry and, in particular, the flow assurance community. Current research areas include wax deposition and gellation, as well as asphaltene deposition kinetics.

The Society for Underwater Technology (SUT) is a multi-disciplinary learned society that brings together organisations and individuals with a common interest in underwater technology, ocean science and offshore.
MSi Kenny staff have participated in SUT events, including providing the flow assurance lectures for the Subsea Awareness Course in both Perth and Aberdeen, as well as speaking on the role of Artificial Lift for deepwater developments at the SUT Brazil event in 2010.
SPE is a professional organization, whose mission is to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources, and related technologies for the public benefit; and to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence.
MSi Kenny consultants have been involved in various SPE-related activities. These include participating in Applied Technology Workshops (ATW) and Forum events, attending topical industry luncheons and Emerging Leaders / Young Professional events, as well as contributing the SPE journals and publications (Flow Assurance 101 article series).
